A super friendly black cat, what could go wrong?

I'm actually asking! Was just at the local animal shelter and spotted a 2 year old black cat in a cubby. The minute it saw me it came up to the glass. I petted it for a while and it's super sweet and easy to handle.

I've never owned a cat before, what could go wrong? Since it's so affectionate will it pester me all day? I work a lot and am quite busy...

How can I tell if it's one of those cats who enjoys knocking things off tables?
