Ive been feeding a stray cat for a few months now and decided to finally take her in now that winter is coming. Its been a very friendly cat and is always coming up to me and rubbing against me and purring. I decided to put some food down and wait until she was occupied to grab her. When i did grab her she was obviously scared ( also she might be pregnant ) and she was able to bite my hand 2 or 3 times before i got her into the room that i set up for her until i can get her to the vet and checked out. The bite started to fester and get infected after 24 hours so i went to the doctors to get antibiotic and what not. That was last night. Im guessing the docs office reported the animal bite because an officer had stopped by my house and left a card saying he stopped by about the cat bite. I still have the cat and it is quarantined, and i understand rabies is a big deal. Now i told the doc that it was a stray and it ran away because i dont want them to take the cat. Stupid, i know. So my question now is when i contact the officer should i change my story and tell him the truth so he can look at the cat? Or do i simply say i have no idea where the cat went? Since then the cat has settled into her new little room for the time being, shes again friendly and lets me pet her without trying to bite or scratch. I still plan to keep her and take her to the vet to get her shots and everything. She is still going to be quarantined for 10 to 14 days also.
Any suggestions or tips would be great.
