#cat - #kitten on a plane

kitten on a plane

I'm picking up my kitten from the airport and would love some advise/tips on how to keep it calm and feeling safe.. especially because I haven't met him yet either. TIA

#cat - #Roommate's cat refusing to use the litter box

Roommate's cat refusing to use the litter box

My roommates have had a cat for the last couple years. Lately she's taken to not using the litter box and pooping randomly around in the general area of it (under tables, just in the middle of the floor, on the box, etc).

I'm not the biggest cat person overall but it's getting a point where things are absolutely disgusting. A lot of the time, they won't notice that she's hidden her poop again without me pointing it out (for some reason I smell cat shit much stronger than they do). It's getting to the point where a good chunk of the time, the first thing I say when I see them walk in the door is "she pooped on the floor again" which I think isn't helping our overall relationship as friends. If I ask them to clean up the corner overall it often takes a bit of a fuss for them to actually get around to doing it. Normally if she misses they just scoop it up and toss it away (occasionally leaving behind visible poop that didn't get scooped).

This morning she straight up stared at me while pooping right in the middle of the floor. I was just walking about on my average morning routine and she just stopped in the middle of the floor, started squatting, and ...poop.

Is there anything I can do to get their cat to actually start pooping in the box? Also, if I see her just squatting again in the middle of the floor, is there a way I should respond other than saying "what the f@#$ are you doing cat"?

Help! I need medical advice about a kitten.

There's a couple of stray kittens that live in my house which I take care of by feeding 3 to 4 times a day. One of them has recently started tilting its head to the left and keeping its left ear lowered. There was some liquid dripping from the ear so I decided to inspect the ear and I found an infestation of little white bugs all inside the ear. I suspect it might be ear mites. What can I do to help this poor kitty? Taking it to the vet might be a problem because it's a stray and my guardians have no knowledge of me taking care of them Any help and advice from kitty experts is appreciated :)
