Advice for first-time owner on adopting two cats at the same time from different fosterers

We are planning to adopt cats for the first time. Zero experience. We plan to adopt two cats (who are complete strangers from different foster homes). How should we ensure they settle in their new home well?

Most advice online is about either introducing a new cat to a resident cat, or adopting two cats from the same litter/already bonded. Whereas this is about two stranger cats coming home for the first time.

Should we bring both cats home on the same day, keep them in separate rooms and slowly introduce them while they get used to the new home?

Or bring them home on different days so that one cat already has the territory marked out and introduce the new cat slowly?

Appreciate any advice!
