#cat - #New adopted cat 8 mo, upset tummy. -advice needed

New adopted cat 8 mo, upset tummy. -advice needed

Hello there! My husband and I recently adopted a beautiful Russian Blue mix from a foster agency. We spoke to her foster mom and matched her food (Halo brand, grain free dry) and grabbed a few cans of wet food also. She was fine for the first few days. Three days in she started having loose stools (diarrhea) and recently she's been vomiting clear liquid. We assume it's just stress from moving to a new home. (We'll have had her for a week this Saturday).

She continues to be playful, sleeps with us in bed all night and seems to be adjusting well, though she did show some anxiety from being left alone all day yesterday while we were at work. (We both work regular 8-5 jobs and I was home most of the week due to the weather, so it was her first day all alone).

We spoke with some one at PetCo about her eating and pooping habits and switched her food once more (which I'm assuming goes against all recommendations for integrating new foods to cats). She is now eating a high-protein, grain free, Only Natural brand food (and loving it). She is eating well now, drinking water too, but she still had a soft bowel movement yesterday (out of her cat box, too). We want to do all we can to help her adjust. Can all of this be related to feline stress? If so, how do we help ease her anxiety? How long should it take for her tummy to adjust to the new food we're giving her? Any advice is appreciated! We want to be the best cat parents we can be! Thanks!
