Getting tired of cleaning up poo
We got this new kitten, about 8 weeks old, last Saturday. I remember litter training several cats growing up, and I've never had much trouble with them. I just show them the litter box, and their instincts take over from there. Nothing else was needed for a single one of them.
I am absolutely flabbergasted at what I've already gone through with this one.
Based on Google searches for what to do:
We got a covered box. Poo everywhere.
We replaced it with an uncovered box to cater to a possible preference. Poo everywhere.
We put down pepper where he's poo'd. Poo everywhere.
We scooped up the poo and the cat and made sure he saw us dumping the poo in the box and burying it. Poo everywhere.
We used a finger to show him the motion of digging in the litter so he can see what to do with it. Poo everywhere.
We added litter attractant. Poo everywhere.
We tried different litter. Poo everywhere.
We put his food/water where he's poo'd. Poo everywhere.
We confined him to a room with just his litter box and his food. Poo everywhere.
It was literally easier to toilet train my child than what's going on here!
What should I do? I'm frustrated cleaning it up over and over. My wife is frustrated smelling it over and over. She already wants to get rid of it, and honestly, I'm starting to wonder about rehoming this one and getting a different cat that's — well — less stupid.
I still want this one to work though. I'm desperate. Anyone?
