#cat - #How do you know if it's a good idea for your cat to get a buddy?

How do you know if it's a good idea for your cat to get a buddy?

So here's the deal: We adopted a cat from someone who couldn't take care of him anymore. He's 15 now and we've had him for 2 years, but since my boyfriend and I work full-time and he can't go outside on his own (we live near a dangerous street), he spends a lot of time inside and alone.

He has a lot of toys and scratching poles to keep him busy, as well as some food puzzles and we go outside with him every morning and evening, but I'm still scared he gets too lonely since he comes from a retired, elderly lady who was probably with him all the time.

The thing is that he is still very playful, requires a lot of attention and he's extremely vocal, but since he's always been the only cat in the household we don't know if he'd benefit from having another (also older?) cat there.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!
