#cat - #Lifespan of stray kittens

Lifespan of stray kittens

I am a cat lover and have been found of them since the past decade. After looking into many stray cats in my neighborhood, I have realized that cats give birth to atleast 8-10 kittens every year.

In one go, I can say cats have 3-4 kittens. Normally, out of these, one of the kitten always tend to be little weaker as compared to the rest. It doesn't get along with its siblings and eventually, does not make it through its initial days (kittens usually require 15-20+ days for their eyes to open)

The other luck kittens start growing up and messing around. They enjoy life to the fullest, have the wierdest curiosities, the cutest behaviour and the random mood swings (sometimes I do compare cats with females, hehe)

So, as the caption goes, these kittens start becoming more curious and energetic. They test every single thing which comes in their way. Sniffing around and tasting stuff lying around.

This is where it gets bitter and the famous saying starts to make sense - curiosity killed the cat

When kittens lick any "thing", it might contain bacteria. This bacteria (idk what it's scientific name is called) affects the digestive system. Their poop starts getting fluid and their nature suddenly turns exactly opposite. They don't do stuff which is cute, curious, but instead, they feel sick and lie around in a quiet place. As days pass by, they get completely affected by the bacteria and this is when their body gives up and they leave us.

The balance surviving kittens either fight with other cats and or face an accident while having fun (like I have seen cats going on for a run to get a fish and getting crashed from a vehicle)

The rarest of the stray kittens are seen to be survived.

(When male kittens are born, and if a stray male cat seems to have a walk around, it always kills the baby male kitten, so that it doesn't have any libido competition in the future)

This is what I have observed. As a cat enthusiast, and as a person who saves every type of cat memes on his mobile phone, I really do care for cats.

I just wanted to share my experience with this (Seen amongst stray cats in Mumbai, India)

I ain't no doctor, but I care for cats. Just wanted to let something out of my mind. I said many things above, but there are times, when kittens fight their way back and live a healthy life thereon

If you are not a cat person, or hate cats, then have a read. Show them sympathy.

The cat you are resenting has came a long way till here.
